Alarm No Monitoring

Steve Mead runs an Auto Trimming and Sign Writing shop in Matamata. He bought the premises in Broadway, and moved from his old location a few years ago. The new workshop had an alarm but it stopped working and wasn’t used.

I called in to see if there was anything I caould do to help. “I won’t charge you anything for the first 10 minutes” I said. “That will give me a chance to fix any thing easy and tell you if it needs any work to make it go.”

I programmed in a couple of PIN numbers for Steve and his workers. I tested the battery and told Steve it needed to be replaced. Also I explained to him the advantages of having his alarm monitored.

As a keen fisherman he quickly grasped the consequences of coming to work on Monday with a great weekend behind him and finding the results of a burglary. He agreed that the peace of mind that the business was safe would far outweigh the small monthly payment.

I connected the alarm up to the new phone lines, put in an ADSL filter, replaced the battery and checked out the sensors. I then programmed the alarm to talk to Alarm Watch and tested it.

Steve and I had a beer together before I left.

I hope you read this, Steve. A couple of fresh Coromandel Snapper would be nice. Let me know when I can come and collect them.
